As colorful and diverse is the nature of the canton of Ticino, as rich in variety is the region in cultural events.

During the tourist season, our calendar of events is richer than ever. Hibernation in Ticino is of short duration only, as shows our official calendar of events.

In our region you can enjoy the culinary delicacies in the special ambiente of Ticino: the typical "grotti" (cellars inside a mountain, see below), the ticinese hospitality and the southern Swiss climate for sun-starved souls.

We would like to specially point our the ticinese "Biergarten culture". In Ticino the local pubs and restaurants originally were cellars dug into a mountain. Today they host restaurants with a generally simple, but delicious choice of food. They are called "grotto" (singular) or "grotti" (plural) and offer welcomed coolness during the summer time. While in former times the comfortable temperatures could be maintained by the cellar and shady trees, today you will also find a refrigerator for real cool drinks.

The mixture is it: Old tradition and modern amenities - together in ticinese harmony!
