Ponte Brolla? Is that not the rock climbing paradise of Ticino? Right! And a couple steps only on the same rock face there are - nicely hidden under trees - ancient rock cellars, called grotti.

Should you be interested, you may visit the ancient grotti of Ponte Brolla on your way back to Locarno. These rock cellars are used privately for storage of agricultural produce. Right at the small niches in the rock face that host a small entrance to the cellar small stone benches and tables hug the rock face. This scenery is the stage for family outings on warm summer evenings.

We guide you on a small loop trail from grotto to grotto. All grotti are lined up one after the other along the path like perls on a necklace. You may marvel at the variety of grotti and take in the magic atmosphere of the area. In the meantime we entertain you with the history of the popular ticinese grotti.
